Counseling Services
Play therapy is the primary mode of therapy that the center uses for children. Play therapy give the child the ability to communicate without the need to put their feelings into words. The therapist is trained to examine these forms of play and find a way to help the child move past issues that may be blocking their growth. Each child is rated differently based the results of their evaluation. For some, anxiety may be the main issue they are dealing with and for others it may be depression. Treatment plans are developed that address these issues and goals are set.
Cognitive therapy is another form of counseling that is used at the center. This therapy is used for teens and those that are able to articulate their thought and feelings. Attitudes and values are death with and the child is given the opportunity to see if the way they think works for them.
Supportive therapy is used to give the child added self-esteem. For most kids with issues in school performance the lack of self-esteem is a critical issue. Children are aided in areas of deficits designed to bring them up to similar performance with their peers. No child wants to be consistently last in the classroom or at home. This approach to counseling is most important for those children with Attention Deficit Disorder.
